GPDR and how it affects your documents and files

What is GDPR? : GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations) is Europe’s new framework for data protection laws. It replaces the previous 1995 data protection directive. The EU’s website says it is designed to harmonise data privacy across Europe as well as to give greater protection and rights to individuals.

The law is enforced by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and their website is very useful to any company or individual looking into all aspects of data protection.

The new GDPR came into effect in May 2018 and they are there to protect peoples’ data and ensure it is handled fairly and responsibly. Enterprises of all sizes now have a responsibility to protect peoples and organisations data. Safeguarding against the misuse of information stored in paper form or digitally is a priority for any company or person. Information is a serious business, as are the fines from the ICO for it’s mishandling.
